NAIA worker returns Korean national’s lost bag containing Php120,000

A worker at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) returned a lost bag with cash amounting to Php120,000.

NAIA staff Judith Mertola, an employee of Lucky Jet Travel and Tours was lauded for her honesty as she didn’t hesitate to return a bag she found at the airport.

The owner of the lost and found bag was a Korean national named Hwang Sung Ha. He accidentally left his belongings at the UBE Express counter at the arrival area of NAIA Terminal 1, reported by NAIA on their Facebook page.

Mertola found the bag and surrendered it to the Intelligence and Investigation Division-Lost and Found Section of the Manila International Airport Authority which then tried to contact the Korean tourist. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to reach Mr. Hwang in his listed contact numbers.

It was only a month after that Mr. Hwang was able to recover this lost bag. On his return flight on November 26, the Korean national was invited to the ID office to claim his bag.

Mr. Hwang was “speechless” to see that everything inside the bag was complete. Inside, the cash in different currencies amounting to Php120,000 and two personal cards remained intact. He said, “This experience is worth sharing with my colleagues and relatives. I will tell them that Filipinos are honest and hospitable.”
