- President Rodrigo Duterte ordered two assistant secretaries to resign or be fired
- Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque named them to be Assistant Secretary Moslemen Macarambon of the Department of Justice and Assistant Secretary Tingagun Umpa of the Department of Public Works and Highways
- The two were allegedly found by PACC to be involved in corruption
Two assistant secretaries have been ordered by President Rodrigo Duterte to step down from their posts due to alleged corruption.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque named Assistant Secretary Moslemen Macarambon of the Department of Justice and Assistant Secretary Tingagun Umpa of the Department of Public Works and Highways to hand in their letters of resignation.
The spokesman shared that the order was made following an investigation by the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission.
Roque was quoted by Inquirer explaining that Macarambon has “regularly been intervening on behalf of smugglers of gold and other precious jewelry at the NAIA.” Umpa committed grave use of power and acts of corruption for asking commissions from contractors on projects at the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
Roque also explained that more officials are expected to be sacked soon; saying that the PACC has over 400 complaints on corruption.
