- Duterte advised him to observe first
Outgoing Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa shared that he and President Duterte talked about his possible political plans.
Dela Rosa admitted that the President’s advice is to observe first. He was quoted by GMA saying, “Nag-usap kami ni Presidente kahapon, tinanong ko talaga siya eh, ano ba sir, sa’n mo ko dadalhin, senador o governor. Sabi niya, mag-observe muna tayo.”
[The President and I had a talk. I asked him where he’ll take me, senator or governor? He said, let’s observe first.]
The President reportedly added that he wish for Dela Rosa to help his province. Dela Rosa said, “Pero for the meantime, maganda sana tulungan mo ‘yung probinsiya mo, ‘yung Davao [del] Sur, dahil nga kawawa ‘yung probinsiya mo, i-improve natin ‘yon kaya nga dapat kailangan ka don, pero senador, obserbahan natin kung ano.”
[For the meantine, it would be good if you help your province Davao del Sur. Try to improve it, they need help there, let’s improve it. As for being a senator, let’s observe it.]
Last February, the President in a speech revealed that Dela Rosa wants to run as governor.
